Getting here
How do I get to Vista Verde from Minca?
The hostel is in Sector Monte Cristo, about 1.7 km above Minca. From the centre it is roughly 35 minutes uphill on foot or about 8 minutes by moto-taxi (the hostel's estimates). Don't search the hostel's name in Google Maps — search "Entrada a Montecristo" and follow the Vista Verde signs from there.
Step-by-step arrival guideCan I walk up from town?
Yes — about 35 minutes uphill, and the hostel calls it scenic. With a light pack in daylight it's part of the adventure. With a big suitcase, after dark or in heavy rain, take a moto-taxi instead.
Is a moto-taxi available?
Yes. Moto-taxis work from Minca centre and the hostel estimates about 8 minutes to the door. Agree the fare before you get on and pay in cash. Ask the driver for "Entrada a Montecristo" and then Vista Verde.
What time should I arrive?
Reception is open 07:00–21:00 and the hostel recommends arriving before 20:00. The last stretch is easier in daylight.
Booking & payment
How do I book a room?
Three ways: send a WhatsApp inquiry from our booking page (the hostel replies with availability and price), or book instantly on Booking.com or Hostelworld. A WhatsApp message is an inquiry, not a reservation — your bed is only confirmed when the hostel confirms it.
Check dates & availabilityWhat payment methods are accepted?
The listings don't agree. Booking.com says cash only; the hostel's own Hostelworld notes say payment on arrival in cash or by card with a 5% surcharge. Bring Colombian pesos in cash and confirm before relying on a card.
What is the cancellation policy?
It depends on where and which rate you book. Booking.com shows the conditions for each rate once you choose dates — we saw both non-refundable and free-cancellation rates. Hostelworld shows the hostel's note: cancel at least one day before arrival, otherwise the first night is charged. For WhatsApp bookings, agree the terms with the hostel.
Rooms
Do the rooms have private bathrooms?
Only the Deluxe Double Room with Sea View has a private bathroom (with shower). The Double with Mountain View, the Standard Twin and the dorm use shared bathrooms with showers.
Are children or pets allowed?
No. Booking.com lists the hostel as adults-only (children not allowed, no cribs or extra beds) and the hostel’s own notes say no children and no pets.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Free Wi-Fi is listed on both Booking.com and Hostelworld. Booking.com guests rate it 6.0 out of 10, so if you need to work online, ask the hostel what to expect.
Food
Is breakfast included?
On every rate we checked (Booking.com and Hostelworld, October 2026), yes. The hostel's notes say breakfast is served 07:30–09:00. Rates can change, so check what your booking includes.
Is there a guest kitchen?
No — the hostel's notes say there is no open kitchen. There is an on-site restaurant listed for lunch and dinner (Caribbean cuisine, with vegetarian options), with dinner served 18:00–20:00.
Food & life at the hostelCan I eat vegetarian?
Vegetarian options are listed for the restaurant. Tell the hostel about any dietary needs when you book.
Adventures
Can I book canyoning?
Yes. Santana's Canyoning has its basecamp at the hostel, and the hostel's WhatsApp number also takes Santana's bookings. Send a canyoning inquiry from the booking page and ask about the exclusive Vista Verde guest discount.
The canyoning routeIs canyoning suitable for beginners?
The operator says it suits all skill levels: two guides work with each person step by step. You need moderate fitness, and the operator does not recommend it during pregnancy, with poor cardiovascular health or with spinal injuries.
Can I reach waterfalls on foot?
Yes. Cascada Escondida is about 15 minutes from the hostel and Pozo Azul about 40 minutes through the jungle (hostel estimates). Visitors report small entrance fees at both, so carry cash.
Open the Adventure AtlasWhat should I bring for hiking?
Shoes with grip that can get muddy, a light rain layer, water, insect repellent, sunscreen, swimwear for the pools, a small dry bag for your phone, a torch or headlamp, and cash for entrance fees.

Check-out is by 11:00. Check-in runs until 21:00, but the start time differs by source: 14:00 on Booking.com and Google, 15:00 in the hostel's Hostelworld notes. Please confirm with the hostel before you arrive.
Is reception open 24 hours?
No. The hostel's notes give reception hours of 07:00–21:00. Message the hostel if you'll be late.

No question matches that. Ask the hostel on WhatsApp — they know.
