The jungle is your front door.

Vista Verde is a small adventure hostel high above Minca. Waterfalls, swimming holes, and coffee and cacao farms are all within walking distance of the gate — and when you come back, there is a hammock with Santa Marta and the Caribbean at the end of it.

The signpost by the gate says it better than we can.

Morning → Golden hour

A day above Minca

Not an itinerary — just what a good day here tends to look like.

Morning mist lying in the valleys below the hostel, with forested ridges and the Santa Marta coast beyond Bamboo-railed balcony with a red hummingbird feeder, overlooking dense jungle and a green hillside

01 Morning

Wake up in the mountains

Birdsong instead of an alarm, mist lying in the valleys below, and the coast appearing as it burns off. Breakfast is served from 07:30.

02 Adventure

Waterfalls before lunch

Clip in at the canyoning basecamp by the gate and abseil four waterfalls — or walk 15 minutes to the Hidden Waterfall, or 40 to the pools of Pozo Azul.

See the route

03 Afternoon

Hammocks, birds and coffee

Walk 40 minutes to Finca La Candelaria for a coffee or cacao tour, or don’t move at all: the hummingbird feeders on the balconies keep the show going.

04 Golden hour

The sun goes down over the Caribbean

Everyone drifts to the garden. Santa Marta lights up on the horizon, the ridges turn blue, and dinner starts at 18:00.
