Abseil down four jungle waterfalls — 27, 15, 25 and 35 metres — with the local canyoning team whose basecamp is at the hostel gate.
Santana's Canyoning runs a half-day descent through a jungle canyon near Minca. Their public listing describes a 40-minute ecological hike to the top of the canyon, then four abseils on ropes: a 27-metre waterfall, a 15-metre one, a 25-metre one and finally the biggest, 35 metres, surrounded by forest.
Two guides — described by the operator as certified — brief you, fit the harness and work with each person step by step, which is why the operator pitches it at all skill levels. Guests who have done it report finishing at the Hidden Waterfall, Cascada Escondida, a 15-minute walk from Vista Verde.
The wooden signpost at the hostel points the first plank straight at it: Canyoning-Basecamp. Book through the hostel's WhatsApp and ask about the Vista Verde guest discount.
